ORFEÓ BARCELONÈS
11th May, 2022
7:30 PM
ICCIC Auditorium (Via Augusta, 205 – 08021 – Barcelona)
The Orfeó Barcelonès is the first choir of Spain and one of the first in Europe.
During these 169 years of history, it has lived through all kinds of times and circumstances, including inactivity when political, social or economic conditions have been adverse, but it has always kept a flame alive that has fortunately allowed it to not fall into oblivion.
In 2007, after the great meeting of choirs in Montserrat at the end of October 2006, rehearsals were resumed to build an updated repertoire, incorporating new concepts of arrangements and musical accompaniment more or less used up until then.
Their goal is for the two hours they rehearse each week to serve as a good time, both for those who sing and for those who want to listen.
Of the 26 current singers, only six or seven have some study or notions of music.
This speaks to the playful and popular nature of the group whose purpose is to meet for joy, willing to work together to enjoy choral singing without virtuosity and with the doors open to anyone who wishes to join.
With a sample of their repertoire adapted to our times, they will offer us a varied program that will surely please everyone.
