Dr. Andrew Gawthorpe addressed the degree to which continuity versus change exists in US foreign policy in recent presidential administrations. The talk emphasized the continuity of the ‘imperial presidency’, highlighting the extent to which the ‘outlier’ Trump administration departed from traditional US policies, or not, as well as providing an assessment of the Biden administration relative to its predecessor.
