The Evolution of US Climate Change Diplomacy
Dr. Mara Oliva, University of Reading
At the second seminar on 19 January, Dr. Mara Oliver, Associate Professor of History at the University of Reading, delivered a talk examining the evolution of US climate change policy and environmental diplomacy. Starting her discussion with the Nixon administration, she traced the changing dynamics of US policy, with a particular emphasis on shifting attitudes within the Republican Party. In addition, she dwelled at length on the climate change policy priorities of the incoming administration of Joe Biden, which relative to earlier administrations is almost certain to see this issue being treated as a much higher priority.
